I do not think it is wise let money accumulate in ypur PayPal account. Arrange so theu are sent in bits and withdraw the bits as they come.

I haven’t heard of that rule. Do you have a link to it?

As best I can tell from looking through the PayPal rules this would only apply if you wanted to integrate shopping cart software on your website with PayPal’s API’s using their ‘Pro’ option. Since the Seven Dollar Script goes through PayPal to handle the purchase, not local server processing, I don’t think this is an issue. If it is, there would be a huge number of sites affected by it, $7 script and many other scripts like it.

Hi Lissie,

PayPal has gotten large primarily due to its association with eBay and that other major players like Google, Amazon and Microsoft haven’t strongly pursued the market.

I haven’t done a lot of international transactions until recently when I started selling digital products. Previously, when I was selling physical products on eBay, I only sold in the US due to the high shipping and customs costs on the items I sold. I’m not sure about how others handle international transactions.

Its never good one when player get too dominate in the market and I think PayPal has just about got to that point. One of its great point for non-Americans is that you can avoid currency transfer fees. If I am paid in US$ I can spend those $ without transfering them via the A$ – even though my account is an Australian PayPal account. Do you know if any of the other alternatives do this? I think AlertPay does but not sure about the others? Lissie

Hi Denise,

Contact PayPal and let them know that you’re starting an ecommerce site that’s selling such and such a product or product line and working with such and such a dropshipper. The main PayPal customer service number is 1-888-221-1161. This should help you avoid any problems. You can get other numbers at PayPal to call at a well known anti-PayPal site that’s actually an affiliate site for a PayPal competitor.

I am just setting up my e-commerce store. I have been holding off on setting up my shopping cart or payment processor till I get the site completed. I sold this product before using my personal PayPal account with no problems. However I only sold very few. No problem then.

With my new site the traffic is already coming in at a much higher rate than with my old site. With my new understanding of SEO the site has ranked on page one right off the bat. This is a higher priced product so large sums of money would be going into my PayPal account and being pulled out right away to pay for the product to ship. This is a dropshipping product so I need to transfer money ASAP to get the product shipped. Getting my PayPal account locked has been a huge concern. Financially there would be no way to pay for the product out of pocket until I got my PayPal account unlocked.

Any strong suggestions?
