Earn Online Cash With WordPress: Info Magazine Themes

Here’s another set of dateless themes, nine in all, you can use to earn online cash with WordPress blogs. These free themes, as I said, are dateless so they’re great for creating timeless niche targeted blogs. I like to think of them like those little 99 cent booklets you find in the checkout line at supermarkets, informative but not too deep or detailed. They’re also great for supporting blogs.

The design on all of these themes is a lot like this blog with a grid design on the front page and a single column of content with 3 sidebars along the bottom. This design helps the blog convert better since there’s no navigation above the fold to distract search engine visitors. The index page uses the ‘excerpt’ of the post so using the -more- tag isn’t necessary, especially if you enter a different excerpt than than the first paragraph of the post.

While these themes are still rather stripped down and basic, both internally and externally, I added a few helpful features to them for those of you who aren’t too comfortable editing WordPress theme files. I put advertising block elements for the index (home) page, archive pages and single post pages. This allows you to simply cut and paste in advertising code and not worry too much about placement or overwriting important  WordPress PHP code. You can fit almost anything short of a full page ad in these slots.

Recommended Plugins for Info Magazine Themes

I wanted to mention the plugins I recommend for use with this WordPress theme set and most other niche blog themes as well.

Advanced Excerpt – This plugin allows you to add links, pictures and other HTML to the standard WordPress excerpt. You can use this so that your content for your excerpt shown on the home page is different from the content on the post itself and to add links to what’s shown on the home page.

Old Post Promoter (by BTE) – This plugin will randomly choose an old post and reset the publication date to the current date and time. This allows your content to be recycled back to your front page and to your RSS feed. Naturally, you shouldn’t use date permalinks with this plugin.

Platinum SEO Pack – This SEO plugin is a branch from the original All-In-One SEO plugin. It has some extra features I like on some occasions but it does basically the same thing.

Yet Another Related Posts Plugin – This plugin finds related posts and adds them to the end of your post. This is very handy in adding additional content to a page. Plus, it’s easy to install because it doesn’t require any nasty database changes.

The Themes

Let’s take a quick look at the themes…

Blackout

This black and green theme is based on a color scheme recommend by several Adsense experts.

Bold Blue

The overpowering Impact font is the main feature of this theme. It has kind of a sports look to it. If you like the blue but hate the font, let me know and I’ll tell you how to change it. It’s only one line of code so it isn’t too hard.

Brown

This plain brown theme is so easy and dull on the eyes. It’s simple to make the advertising the star of the show with this theme.

Business Green

It looks a lot like this blog, but without the extra header navigation.

Corporate Memo

This theme uses a monospaced font for extra boredom.

Firesky

Ugly? You bet. What would you use this for? I wonder…

Gold

This bright yellow theme would be good for place for contrasting advertising to steal the show

Market Red

A nice red theme that can be used a number of different ways.

Personal Poetry

The perfect place to write angst driven poetry about Ohio DUI lawyers and Forex trading, or even dating and relationships.

Preview Demo and Download Themes

You can view the demo blog here: Info Magazine Themes Demo. I use the Themes Switcher plugin so that you can view the different themes from a single blog. I used ‘blog marketing’ PLR articles for the content in case you’re wondering.

You can download the pack of all 9 themes here: Info Magazine Themes Download

Let me know if you have any questions about these WordPress themes.

Hey Frank, these are great templates. Thanks for posting them. I really appreciate the short and to the point line about each theme it helps understanding why we should select it.
Thank you also for listing some of the plugins. I have been using all in one SEO pack I guess on my next site I will try Platinum since you recommend it.

If you just use the default basics All-in-One SEO and Platinum SEO are basically the same. Platinum has some advanced options that I use from time to time so that’s why I prefer it these days.

Hi Frank,

What features of Platinum SEO do you like that you favor it over All-in-One SEO? I am curious. I’ve been using the All-in-One since I started and have found it very easy to use an implement, but if there is something better out there I might want to give it the old college try. If it helps me to make more money online than I figure it is worth a go.

Thanks.

There are some additional options that give you finer control over follow/nofollow that I like. The basics are the same though.

Nice looking themes Frank. I will definitely be using them. The Advanced Expert plugin sounds like a really useful plugin. I will be uploading this as well.

Hey Frank,

These look really good. Downloaded the pack, and will definitely use a few. With your “Product Reviews” anchor text in the footer, are there any other keywords that you’d also like linked? I sometimes set up my footer links to rotate anchor text (using wp-spinner) … would be happy to do the same with yours on sites where I use these themes.

Thanks again,
Todd

Frank,

How do I display the posts like above? I’m using one of these themes and after I added the 2nd post, I still only see the first one.

Also – any suggestions on where to put an EPN widget if I want to use these for Ebay?

Hi Thai,

For this theme, you’ll want to set the number of posts per page to an even number, like 10, This will place 10 excerpts on the page, provided that you have that many posts. This theme is designed to spread out from the index page’s main keyword to long tails in the actual posts. This is different from the memo theme where the objective is to point long tails back to the index page.

As for EPN widgets, you can stick them in any of the pre-defined advertising blocks and they should work.

Hi

Would like to check the license terms; are we allowed to remove the “Product reviews” link?

Regards

Hi Anu,

Of course, while I would prefer that you leave it intact you may make it nofollow or remove it if you wish.

Hey frank,

I’m phaze112, AA member here, loved this post. When I am ready to take on adsense more seriously. I have a question though about the Yet Another Related Posts Plugin. I have been trying for the longest time to get it to display related posts on my website but I can’t seem to get it to, it always says “no related posts”

a site of mine is totalcomputerrepair [dot] com

Here is how I have it configured:

nothing checked to disallow, OOOO00000PS just as I was going through I realized the box “match threshhold” was at 5! I never really noticed that before!!!!

haha wow I just fixed it! Thanks for the post and getting me to go back to this plugin! Haha I was going to delete the post but I gotta say thanks because if I didn’t type a comment I wouldn’t of figured it out!

Thanks!

Travis

Great themes, just what I wanted. Any support for changing the header or background color? I’m looking at the code in WP Editor and can’t see what needs to be changed. I’m using Bold Blue.

Hi Christina,

You would need to make changes in the style sheet to do this. If you need some hints on how to do this, let me know and I’ll show you how to do it.

I’m using this template on this page: http://www.bestsouthernstuff.com/suckstomac/

And I would like the content to be pulled up at the top of the page next to the adsense block. You can tell I’ve moved the ad block to the right, but I can’t figure out how to get the content up above the fold.

On this, I suggest putting your adsense block in a div. I have two pre-defined in the stylesheet called leftpicture and rightpicture. Just put your Adsense inside of a div like so:

[div class='rightpicture']
your adsense code goes here
[/div]

Replace the [ ] with <>
