If you use Platinum SEO, it will automatically set the canonical tag, letting Googlebot know that the actual post page is the original and the index page and the category/tag pages are less important.

Hi Frank,

Boring Memo looks like a great theme for niche blogs. Looking at the demo blog I noticed that the index page (and the navigation next and previous pages) are a duplicate of the actual post page. Do you consider this duplication on the blog a problem for ranking by the search engines? This would not be an issue with your Information Magazine Theme because there are excerpts of the posts on the index page rather than the full article. I would value your opinion on this.

I’m going to get up my courage to try your suggestion about editing to insert the adsense or eBay code. I’m about to buy about 5 new domains to try some targeted keywords. When I load the code I’ll try the edit, and if I mess it up I’ll just delete and try again! You make it sound easy…

It looks OK to me in IE7. I haven’t tried it in IE6 or the new IE8 though. Perhaps the eBay widget in the advertising area didn’t load right for you and that caused the rest of the page not to load. I need to replace those with Blog Content Wizard ads anyway.

Frank this is a great theme. Perfect for my niche. Thanks! Is anyone having trouble getting the posts to display in IE? It works like a dream in FF, but the posts do not show up in IE. In fact, nothing below “advertisements” shows up in IE. The title and the sub head do show up in IE, but nothing else below that–just white space.

Any help?

In fact, I have similar experiences. I have noticed that Minima Lefty for Blogger is at least as good in making money than the prettier templates. It might depend on the niche, however.

Hi T,

It should work for any keyword targeted niche marketing blog where you were primarily focused on search traffic, not repeat social traffic. The content should be moderately useful but not overly entertaining or engaging. If you ever watched the classic 1950’s/1960’s cop show, Dragnet, it’s a “Just the facts, ma’am” style delivery.
